Just an update - First off thanks to all who helped with my questions.

Secondly, I have sold the welder on to my garage friend for what I bought it for, snapped my hand off.

Anyways, I'm back in the market for a welder, think I will buy new this time round.

OK so looking fora new welder Narrowed down to - in no particular order - r-tech ac dc 200 £1378, a thermal arc 202 ac dc for £1000 and an Oxford 220 e ac dc for £1700. What do people think especially of the Oxford. I know the r-tech comes with the full package and good back up all round,the thermal arc is the cheapest but I do like the idea of longevity of the Oxford, even if it is way more expensive and does not come with any extras. Will only be the last welder I buy.

I'd buy the thermal arc.
I've used them a few times under different colours and they are fabulous little sets.
The extras for it are better too. Tweco torches and ssc pedals come as standard with victor tig sets.
The oxford looks a nice unit but too big and thirsty on the supply for my needs.

I was looking at Jasic and ThermalArc when it was recommended I also look at the Parweld as it was basically the same machine as the Thermal Arc but with a better warranty, 3 year no quibble. I enquired at my local supplier and it came in at £700 plus VAT and included a Pro26 torch and a regulator. That was the back end of last year so prices may have risen but at that time the ThermalArc was being offered to me at just under £1000. Just another one that may be worth looking at?
