Thermadyne 181i

Hi all, well i should of got the fabricator when i had the chance, they sold out and no more left, well no lon ger being made.

But i hav ebeen offered the Thermadyne 181i at £600, a bit more cash but sounds good as its a 3 in one. Never had one so whats your opinion on these rigs.

As before i will be doing car body work, winch bumper etc etc, 4mm and at time a little 6 mm plate, and at time ally welding.

These anygood folks?

Just thought, the more can go wrong now though as it a 3 in 1 unit, although it does have a 2 year warranty.

I see that as it is a DC set up it is not as good as AC for the TIG, and for ally weld i have read that i would need helium gas for welding aluminium.

DC only TIG on that fella so no good for Aluminium... AC/DC TIG for Ally; pure Argon is the general all rounder with TIG, Helium mixes tend to be for thicker sections

I have read up on it all day and there has been no bad read ups on it, even the duty cycle is meabt to better than stated in the specs by users.
I will get an AC rig later for the ally welding.
