Went to town today for some supplies; whilst walking along the high-street I passed a hydraulic trench-digger with two young chaps (I guessed to be in their early 20`s) trying to undo a hyd. pipe union, which must`ve been VERY tight, as they were beating the heck out of the ring end of a long spanner using a lump hammer (without holding the spanner at all)
I spotted both, the blindingly-obvious danger and also the fact that they were trying to 'loosen' it the wrong way (as for a L/H thread).....had a quiet and polite 'word' and was told I was a 'nosey mare' (could`ve been 'dozey' but he had bad adenoids)
.....I carried on walking and a few blows with the lump hammer later I heard a cry and spun`round to see one of the yoofs clutching his forehead with his partner rushing out into traffic to recover the errant spanner.......I didn`t laugh (`though, to my shame; I felt like it!).
