Having made that statement in jest, my electric bill has dropped enormously and Bulb have advised me to drop my direct debit dramatically. I was paying £44 a month, now it is £10.

I would suggest you tell us why? These things aren't magic, so either you've changed your load dramatically or someoone's made a mistake?

That means you are using less than 2kw/h a day! The UK average is 8 to 10!
Good luck to you they have obviously made a big error.

I’m not actually sure. We definitely use more than they suggest we pay, but I have built up about £100 in credit since we moved in six months ago, so that will be gradually used up. I wanted to change to £20 a month, but once I had opened the app up they refused to accept more than a tenner a month.

That is almost unheard of by a power company, apparently.

ETA. So far today we have 24p usage on the display. Shower is the big consumer, and washing machine. Daughters big TV seems to suck it up, but it also puts out a lot of heat.

I’m waiting until our big gas tank runs out and I start using the 47kg bottles for heating... that might be a shock, but we’re in a small bungalow, so....

that's amazing using so little electric, we swap provider to make sure we have a grood tariff electric alone is £260 a month gas is another £100+ in winter!

I fear you will be in for a shock I used those once bought in 10's via a local company that went bust (Pub mutterings about refils and backs of lorries) taken over and then the prices started to increase exponentially in the end I went back to solid fuel with a secondhand Trianco anthracite boiler and HW tank it cost less in the long run. Good luck.

We had a smart meter installed yesterday. He gave a quick demo on how much electricity is being used and how to reduce the bill. As soon as he left, unplugged, back in the box, now sitting on top of the meter.
I don't care. I have no intention of changing my lifestyle just to save a a few pence or even a few quid.

We did the same, if you have got to use it, that’s it, you can’t change it by much.

On the plus side unplugging it means you are using a bit less electric as well

hope u have a fat wallet heating with bottles you will need it as for lower p[rice getting a smart meter unless they have lowered your kwh tariff it wont go down check how many you are using every week and take it from there companys just estimate what they think you will use and charge that monthly . sometimes they grossly over estimate you

Nothing is changing in my house either, so I shall wait a month or three and see what we average over a longer period.

Just looked at the Bulb web page account and it appears they overcharged me last month, then refunded the same sum this month.

The last house we lived in, when we returned from the Far East, EDF estimated £120 a month, gas and leccy, so I paid it for a while, then changed to Bulb, who said drop it to £78. and there it stayed for over two years.

According to my supplier I use 70p's worth of electric a day, that's without a smart meter. I don't think I'll bother to get one any time soon.
