I've been using some stuff called 'Gloves in a Bottle' for some time now. It's non-greasy and stays active as a shielding lotion for up to 4 hours. A small drop 'the size of a pea' is sufficient.

Cheers, yes just starting to get some spare energy back. In February this year I got a 'proper' full time job as a Design Technology Technician at our local Secondary School. It's a long time since I have had a physically demanding job and most evenings have been just to pooped to do much other than rest

Been doing a bit of extra over the summer break making cradles to mount 75 odd PCs under the tables. So have been using the schools MIG set and the practice is definitely helping, as did a good re-read of the tutorials on here.

So, nice to see old friends and meet some new ones

HI,

washing your hair or washing the dishes will clean your hands but if your hands soak up oil and grease and dirt every day (like mines) it sorta gets stuck in your skin and doesn't come off with a simple hairwash

I always find making pastry cleans my hands...

Hi Cappy - interestingly I came across this about a year or so back and tried to get it via the net but at the time (I seem to remember) all I could find was a rather useless single page without any info on where/how to buy it and gave up. I've had a look at the site you linked to and initially thought 'Damn - could've had the benefits all this time' but when I read more it doesn't quite make the claims that DS does, it sounds more like it's for domestic use and for stopping dry skin and related problems. All of which is good but I'm happy I found DS as it is for more industrial and bio hazards.
Anyway, my wait is over as it arrived to day. I coated my hands for the fun of it before I wired in some spot-lights but now wish I had gone right up my arms as I routed one wire through a roof of fibreglass insulation. My wrists and forearms are itching horribly but my hands are fine.

One little trick I heard about for dealing with fibreglass insulation is to wear old tights/stockings over your arms. The idea is that the small glass bits stick to the outside and peeling them off afterwards i.e inside out, means that you don't get anywhere near the wretched stuff.

Never tried it myself, just hope no-one sees you

Well they're a bit like long johns in the winter and can't be seen under my trousers so that's no problem. Just that any stray sparks and they ladder something awful The real difficulty is finding ToTector high heels that go with the boiler suit

Yup, still playing with the trains. Not quite so much this year as Mum has had to go into a Nursing Home and the arrangements for all that have taken up a lot of time. Now things are starting to settle down I hope to be around here a lot more.

Blimey I used to be a supplyer for that stuff !! got the vidio were the bloke dips his hand in acid and then lights it with petrol (dont do this at home) my blokes dont use this !! , I got a posh dermashiled dispencer on the wall and a fair few cans of the stuff knocking around somewere ......

yep it is great stuff but was very expencive as it was hard to shift compaired with other barrier creams, gave a lot of small cans away but never gaind many sales

We have dispensers for normal barrier cream. I think only one of the lads uses it.

Regular washing of hands seems to keep them pretty clean, although theres a bit of ingrained dirt in places. Wear gloves a lot of the time, for handling of welding anyway.
These for light duty handling.
They keep a lot of dirt off.
