The thread on hand grinders please

Does anyone know please what the thread is on electric hand grinders/ disc cutters like Bosch and makita for example I've measured it via calipers but the thread doesn't like m14 nuts etc..

I'd always thought it was M14. Maybe it's a 14 mm fine thread?

Buy a wire cup wheel there cheap there's a nut on the back of that it will fit.cut it off and use it.I always thought it was m14 too.or buy new flange nut for it

Are you not struggling to get a cup brush on or the like? Some carry cheapanese threads

All modern hand grinders are m14 these days as far as those brands go I should fall off my chair if yours was not

Definitely 14mm but i have not checked the pitch, will do that later.

They are M14 x 2 metric coarse, I have an M14 tap here used now and again to clean out grinder nuts, it about the only purpose it has, M14 is rarely found on anything else.
I suspect there is a bit of damage to the thread on the grinder, a knife file or the edge of a half round will soon clear it

The thread should be a M14, as already said.
However my fiend has a cheepy B&Q angle grinder and the thread is a M12. But the spindle is very soft and doesn't take much to damage the threads. it was so bad that a M12 plain nut would not run down until I dressed it with a die nut.

When we first saw little grinders, was it a Makita 4" grinderette, they were M12 with a 5/8" hole in the disc.

I vaguely remember different thread and disc centres going back near three decades

As far as I know, most grinders nowadays 5" and above use the M14 x 2mm threads however I have come across some that used an imperial thread, the 4" grinders use a smaller thread.

I just bought a 6" battery grinder for use on site. Thinking it will give me a bit more reach on cutting and more surface area with a sanding disc
Oh yeah it's std m14 like them all and will take smaller discs if I buy a smaller guard it becomes a normal size one
