guessing this ceramic grease is incredibly expensive. We used some ceramic grease in my last job that was £500 per 500ml tube.My first thought…..2nd thought suggest to those wanting grease to not be tight wad and buy a tub of the stuff!
Remember years ago, used to buy tubs of grease to refill the ol' fashioned grease guns. The tubs had a close fitting metal disk in the can with a hole in the middle ( bit like a crude piston thingy). You put the gun barrel over the hole and pushed it downwards forcing grease into the barrel. Perhaps you could make something similar out of either metal or rigid plastic.
years ago I had the idea of using an empty tooth paste dispenser to be reused to dispense general purpose grease . Worst job was to retrieve the plastic disc from inside the dispenser. Worked a treat . No, I never tried to clean my teeth with it.I thought I would start a thread where we could detail some of the more ridiculous/tedious/nasty/dirty jobs we do in order to make a pound. I was inspired to do this following my latest job of filling squeezy tubes with Ceramic grease, I have a tub of it but a couple of customers wanted some and I decided to try this, bloody awful job (but not nearly as bad as some of the nonsense I have done in the past!).

If anyone can think of a better/easier way of getting the grease out of the tub and into the tubes I want to see it.
One hell of a lot more easily than trying to fill a tube the same wayHow are you filling the grease gun?![]()

From my dairy days one of the lads who was into sea fishing used to make (and sell I guess) lugworm suckers out of 2 inch stainless pipe. Like a big sucker, nylon piston with a pair of orings on.If you are doing a lot of them...could you make a large plunger that's a snug fit in the tin (insert in the top)..then punch a hole in the tin base and rig the lot up in a drill press (with a good dose of imagination).
Or just go old school and remove the base of the tin with a tin opener and go from there.

Can't beat a bit of Black Lug for cod fishing.
I guess it's needs to allow the air out but be easy to close.I have to ask: if they were meant to be filled via the cap, why would they be supplied with an open end?
Is that what the hole is for? I never knew thatRemember years ago, used to buy tubs of grease to refill the ol' fashioned grease guns.
