Wow what an ace reply. I am currently in the process of expanding the cellar. Some sill people built a wall accross it and then dump load of building crap in the other half.

So, putting a door in the wall, getting the crap out and then installing my extractor system. Will take pidgeon chit welder advice. will post some pics when i am done.

I made an air purifier for my birdroom and on looking at posts i,m sure it would do the same thing
Wat i used was an intragrated extractor hood from a domestic kitchen
put a series of filters in it
I put the whole lot into a plywood box
It draws the stale air through filters and clean air out back into birdroom

Has the blocked in half of the cellar got a solid or wooden floor above it ? Check before you dig it out as it may be holding up the other half of a room, the wall will be supporting something as they don't build them for nothing in cellars. Our old house had a cellar under the front room which stopped at the kitchen as that had a solid floor.

As for the cellar.

It is common in houses that they build a wall across the cellar so the beams for the floor above can rest thus avoid bowing. The blocked off half is then used as a dump site. :-)

So the idea is to remove enough bricks for a door way and put a lintel over the top. Next doors house has the full room. So it was not there as part of the original build. However, your not wrong, will ask a qualified builder about this before going sledge hammer time.

Johnny , it would not be good enough to nulify welding fumes down in a cellar.

Does she not realise that camels are worth much more than an ordinary female .. She commands a very high price ........keep her !

Mine costs me an arm and a leg as well as the two camels and my favourite goat .
