Hello,
I want to do some underbody and cavity vehicle rust protection waxing by myself, and I don't know if a small air compressor will be able to serve me at all.
I intend to do "small scale" operations - waxing some small local areas of the underbody which have lost old wax coating, or waxing some body cavities (like door cavities, cavities in sills, behind lamps, etc.).
So it's mostly "touch up" work.
For that, I need an air compressor and a "schutz" underbody spray gun with an extension nozzle.
Would a small air compressor with about 180 l/min air intake capacity and a 6 l air reservoir (8 bar max) be able to feed a schutz underbody gun even for 5 seconds? Compressor size and weight are quite important for me.
I would not mind having to wait every now and then for the compressor to repressurize, if I can get at least 5 seconds of continuous useable spraying time.
Also, at what air pressure should a schutz gun be used for spraying wax?
Here are two examples of small 6 l compressors:
