I took the MGA for an MOT this afternoon. It passed OK, but while it was up on the ramp I noticed rust in the bottom seam of the sills. Rust has started to push the seam apart inbetween the plug welds. Couldn't believe it - those are new sills.
Then I realised I'd put the sills on 16 years ago. I'm feeling old now.
The sills were seam sealed on the outside and waxoyled on the inside back in the day, and have big vent holes (that aren't really drain holes because they are slightly too high).
Starting to worry about rust prevention now. I suspect my bad was to not to extend the vent holes down to the bottom of the sills, and perhaps not to waxoyl again every 5 years. What does everyone else do for rust prevention?
