Hey guys, need some advice. I ended up buying an old towable cherry picker from a neighbor (not sure why, but it happened). It's quite ancient, but I managed to get it running after a bit of tinkering. When I tested it, I went up about 20 feet and then it just stopped, wouldn't start again no matter what. I've got a colleague who's good with mechanics; he cleaned up the starter and got it running again. But, every time I tried using the hydraulics, it would shut down. Turns out there's a leak in a gasket. Long story short, I've decided to get a new Honda engine for it. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find one or what exactly I should be looking for? I'm pretty clueless about this stuff.

u'll be happy with a copy honda at around 25/5 of the price....
I have several driving odd bits of plant forover 10 years and still start first time regardless.....
unless u can get A USED HONDA FROM A MOWER........

You need to identify what you have before looking for an engine, they come with various sizes of parallel and tapered output shafts. If you are buying it would make sense to replace like for like.

I am guessing it has a small hydraulic pump like a log splitter, if it has then the chances are it has a keyed straight shaft, your going to need a Honda GX390 or a clone like a Loncin etc with electric start...plenty of good used on Ebay. Or you could buy a 12V hydraulic power pack and run it from a couple of batteries.

As mentioned photos would be good, as Bob mentioned you really need to identify which engine it is and what shaft, then a Chinese clone can be had cheaply, last one I bought was £80!

Loncin G200F-P Petrol Engine 3/4" Parallel Shaft 6.5HP Replaces Honda GX160 200. Loncin G270F-P Petrol Engine 1" Parallel Output Shaft 8HP. These have been removed while new and unused from new machines that have had engine upgrades to Honda or E-Start.

Should be much cheaper if you can do the work yourself.
