Times have changed and it’s not possible to have “a little bit of a wind up with the young apprentice” due to the ways HSE are nowadays, but has anyone got any interesting stories from their apprenticeship days or starting your first job as a young lad or lass!
When I was in My first year We were quiet and cleaning up the workshop, unknown to Me the lads had looked for two of the biggest spanner’s they could find, the foreman come to Me before lunch and said after lunch I had to walk about half a mile to the town clock and meet the local jeweller/watchmaker to help him sort the town clock which had not been working for about a month and He would get Me the tools I needed, I walked into the town centre carrying a 4ft set of Stilstons and a set of 3ft chaindogs on My shoulder and sat at the steps of the town clock for about 2 hours then thinking the guys not turning up, (days before mobile phones) and walked all the way back to be welcomed with a whole load of cheers and laughter!
Needless to say revenge was sweet!
