heres a few pics of the guts of my old oxford. i managed to get it out by myself, had to prize it out with a few screw drivers and then lift. not that bad. oxford rt180

We have one of these at work and I'm a bit concerned about it as my boss decided to power wash it. Is there some sort of seal between the top and sides and if so do you think it would keep out water from a power washer(I'm guessing the answer is no). I was looking at your photos and it looks like there is a bit of corrosion at the bottom it doesn't look to bad but it has made me think. Ours is still working but for how long. Is there any way to check if there is water at the bottom with out taking it apart? I've never looked underneath it, is there a drain plug do you know?

i think i remember seeing some kind of seal, but i wouldnt power wash it again if i was you just in case. these are strong old welders but they will die some day. you will have to take it apart to change the oil and check iftheres water. cheer

Thanks for the reply. You are right it looks like it will have to come apart, I had a look under it, no drain plug. I couldn't believe it when I found out the boss had power washed it, bet he doesn't do it again when he finds out how much the oil will be to refill it!

all you do is un bolt the top and prize the top off with a few screw drivers and lift it off, you better check just in case theres no water in it. cheers

I think it's transformer oil.

Thanks Paul, I couldn't remember the name. Thankfully I'll not be paying for it, I wasn't thinking it would be cheep. It may make my boss think twice about doing daft things, but I doubt it!
