@prepman Bumetanide: My 90yr old Mother has these twice a day - she urinates like a race horse - does help with her mobilty thou - first two hours after she taken them - she just up and down to the toilet all the while. I mean - by the time - when she got back from the downstairs toilet to her chair - she gotta go again. No joke mate: In the two years she been taking them - her walking is a lot better - no walking stick. She nearly stands up straight now. Bumentanide tablets are like going to the gym for a little old lady who is too proud to wear nappies.

I know same here...after 2 hours peeing every 10 mins for a couple of hours then gradually abates....depends on my routine,
If I intend to go out to shops, I don't take it. Did try stopping it, but after a week my chest was crackling like cellophane bag.

I've got one to keep an eye on my lungs which are knackered due to a bout of Pneumonia and COPD, pulse is a bit high as I just ran downstairs to get new batteries

When I had a collapsed lung my SpO2 dropped into the mid 80's and once they'ed re-inflated it they wouldn't let me out until I got to 94%

I've been below 80% a good few times, usually followed by A&E. Can't remember 98%.

I find with me I have to do tests when feel wacked...to determine if it's psychosomatic and I'm going into a panic attack. The polymyalgia doesn't help. The breathlessness when it comes is terrifying, like someone holding your head underwater. Gulping air does nothing with heart issues it isn't a breathing problem, lungs are fine. So sometimes I just need to calm down and others times it's 999.

I have a fancy Omron bp monitor which sends the reading to your phone. Really useful for looking at the pattern. Mines gone up a bit as I started eating crap at Christmas and haven't really stopped yet. My watch takes bp too but I'm not that confident of its accuracy.

As you get older a bp monitor is a good investment. I'd recommend them.

My stress levels because of work are off the scale at the moment. Can't sleep, grinding my teeth, all in all not good. Having a **** time tbh.

Last week I really thought I was going to have a sudden massive heart attack. Sat reading this and I thought I'd do mine. Don't really understand it tbh or really care anymore. This appears the "worst of 3". The other two times, big number was 135 then 137.

about fifty years ago i was an apprentice in a factory making fridges chatting to one of the lovely girls assembling a door when this angry man said could he have a word with the engineer i was working alongside. This proceeded to a rant that i was reducing output. Not long afterwards on a Friday at the end of the day he dropped down dead, he was 32 years old. The following Monday he was replaced and it was business as usual.
In another company 7 out of about 30 management team were dead, probably by around 60 years old; as Karma would have it the man handing out the morning **** kickings for failure to achieve results had a heart attack in his late 50s.

I have one advice. Stop looking at those medical measuring devices. All you do is scare yourself sh*tless.
I did it for a while and my hart rate and mental health went all over the place.
Binned them all. Eat healthy, get your exercise and try not to bother too much. This worked for me.
We're all gonna dy someday. No escaping that. If you worry about it too much you'll only bring that day forward.

It doesn't scare me one little bit, I am greatly interested in the whole subject which is why I have been reading BP for a few years, every day. It's true that some people suffer from "white coat syndrome" but I'm not one of them.

Sat here playing with the monitor. The 119 and 116 were after deep breathing and trying to relax. No idea about the pulse of 99 at the end, I was dozing off and the monitor finishing its test cycle snapped me out of it.

Doesnt look too bad, but the lower number is the more important! Stress has a huge effect on it.

As long as you don't let it rule your live that's ok.
I don't have white coat syndrome. Every time the GP checks my BP it's perfect, but I had a spell that I checked everything obsessively myself and everything went from bad to worse because I started worrying about it. I managed to flick a switch mentally and since then it's been fine.
I just checked my BP just for fun. I haven't touched the thing for almost a year. 124 over 70.

Sat and took my BP last night, SWMBO had gone out which helped . Really had to force myself to relax. Took 10 or so slow, in/out deep breaths. Was surprised to see the first number really come down. For a short while it really helped and lifted my black mood a tad.

Probably something in this meditation lark. Trouble is as I was sitting there trying to relax and go to a happy place, (I was stumped on that one), the fridge would kick in, oil boiler fire up or cat flap go!

Meditation can work and for peace you can get various forms of relaxing sounds, wave music etc to help block out daily background.

But Id suggest you look a bit deeper at what is causing the stress. Share it and try to engineer a way to reduce or remove it. A high paid, high's tress job doesn’t do you or your family any good if your lying in the hospital post heart attack!

To show how daily peaks and troughs happen, I am 133, 132 and 131 ( / 79, 59 ) this morning, yet I felt rougher yesterday!

Those (I believe) are the figures that show how good your cardio vascular system is, when not being provoked. Not that I am any sort of expert in these matters of course, quite the reverse. However they are the figures that my doctor wants recorded.

From our surgery being utterly dire for many years, then all through and after Covid, things seem to be improving with face to face appointments. They even chase us now to book appointments for BP, colonoscopy, smear tests etc. It was a toss up as to who was worse for service, them or the local Lloyd's pharmacy.

It all went seriously downhill for years after Dr Dunn was hounded out.
