The Boat Race

It is, surely the definition of dullness.
It's just down the road from me so I've been a few times - terrifically boring. Even on the telly it's pretty much over by Hammersmith Bridge.
It needs a revamp/rebranding.
Option 1,
Soft projectiles thrown from the shore to potentially put the boats at an unease.

Option 2,
DRS.

Any other suggestions?

Make the oarsmen change seats every 100 strokes midstream. In the same boats of course.

I witnessed an Eight cut in two on Henley Reach by an auxiliary fire crew with a water jet. The laughter suddenly went very quiet.

Agree it is dull, introduce some rule book specified holes before the start and release the great whites (ten hungry ones will do)

If both boats make it back, then throw in the ski sunday presenters to keep the licence payers happy for the 3 hours of carp they sat through.

Rowing is my sport, I’ve done a lot of it and been involved in it in with a business for the last 20years. I’m the first to admit it is not a spectator sport, I mean some days at Henley I don’t even see a race

I have rowed (and sailed) all my life, I agree that the boat race is dull even when its a good race. But its a great tradition.
I was one of the founders of a new rowing club back in 2003 down here on the Thames estuary & was chairman for 5 years. Its a great sport but as often happens the club got ruined by politics! I along with many others left & 10 years later that club was still riven with infighting (which kind of proved it wasnt my fault!)
I digress, fine boat rowing in slidy seat thin boats can be boring but there are many other types of rowing, We used to race 4 oared Gigs & that could be pretty exciting, Aussie surf boat rowing is proper exciting, just put "Surfboat carnage" into you tube & you will see what i mean.
