Thoughts about getting my Bantam road-worthy are coming back to me. I'm thinking of ditching the lathe controls (electrics) and sorting it out myself. My motor isn't a dual voltage though, it's single voltage dual speed, and this is the big problem. I can't run it with an inverter because none offer 400vac conversion.
(okay, Direct Drives do but they haven't returned any of my emails, and the cost is out of my league)
I'm not going to buy a transwave rotary or static, again due to cost. I've drawn up two options: either replace the motor with a 1ph with a view to installing a vfd at some point later on (money is tight) or buy a 230vac 3ph motor and a vfd to convert it outright.
I would love to keep the original motor as it runs so sweetly and it's built like a tank too, but I've got no way of running it given it needs 400vac.
Join the poll or give me some pointers please! This is really my weak area
