That damn pesky silicon

Does anyone know whether that silicon removal stuff actually works before I go and buy some? and does it take any effort?

Got COPD and anything strenuous I don't have the strength to use a lot of effort in doing most things.

think i read somewhere vinegar gets it off, not sure how true though. The sealant we use in work stinks of vinegar so may be wrong

Do you mean when its cured or before?

You won't get silicon off with it, but you probably will get SILICONE off with it. Quite different animals

it softens and melts it and goes like jelly then u can rub it off .your better off cutting most of it away with a sharp knife 1st

The Screwfix stuff works OK. I got most of it off with a blade scraper and Stanley knife first.

WD40 actually works to remove it as does some brake cleaners, As said remove as myuch as you can with a stanley blade first and use the gel or garage stuff to clean the remains.
