When I did my conversion I glued and screwed the lot, all end joints over a joist where possible, if not I put an extra noggin in.
Fair lot of screws, held in place with a few strategically placed screws, then rest spun in with an auto feed gun.
My joists were approx 300ctrs, 3 screws across each board on every joist. Got through a box and a half of Timco flooring screws with the downstairs making good too.
The BCO mentioned how solid it all felt after jumping about on it.
