Text message scams

There definitely won't be any link between the PO and the scam, that's for sure.

Have had the £1.99 request twice in the last week, the strange thing is they come a day after I have sent parcels from local PO, almost as if they have an inside line to the PO

So have I........Im pretty sure its simple chance........so many people sending parcels some will connect.....law of averages

I had this one earlier today, we never have shopping delivered from anywhere, just a look at the email link shows its fake, in the past I've had warnings that im about to be arrested by the "inland revenue" messages from the "bank" and the "post office" one as above, I don't get the phone calls so much nowadays, I think I might be blacklisted

Yeah, that is a lot more obvious than some!

It seems this is much more prolific than I first thought.

But I think it’s good to share these scams firstly to raise awareness and secondly to dismiss any doubt someone may have with the legitimacy of these messages.

I can’t find it now but a few weeks ago on Facebook I saw a brilliant reply to one of these scammers asking for money, something along the lines of “come on mate, I know your only trying to make a living but so am I and I’ve hardly got 2 beans to rub together so give me a break”

Don't get phone calls a lot any more,
It is nice to have a chat with some, the computer guys are really upset after trying to help for 20 minutes a become quite rude. One even suggested I was wasting his time, as if
Had HMRC, Amazon, bank, building society, friend of a friend needing money urgently.
As Paul said maybe blacklisted as a time waster longest 20min

I recently had this too. I knew it was fake as I don't have a HSBC bank account I have also had a spate of the usual recently. I delete and block the number.

Not 10 minutes after I posted my wife got the exact same text from a very similar number. You have to give it to them they are trying.

They wouldn't get that past the grammar police on here! The re direct seems plausible and as you say, far more believable sadly.

If these scammers ever learn to type proper like wot I do, we are really up the creek . What I think is really silly, is they put a link in their official text. I spent hours repeating to anyone who will listen to not click on links in emails or texts (I don't do it even from trusted sources) and here they are sending a link!!

They are not even trying now! I agree, they will keep trying until you give them all your money

Just been looking into these scams, some of you may already be aware but if can forward these messages to 7726 for the network operators to investigate and block:

You learn something everyday.

All numbers are fake, I get several calls every day, one ring, then hang up, waiting for me to call back, for god only knows what purpose. All are 08438 prefix numbers, different one every time.

Oddly enough I got one of the original "Attn: Beneficiary/Hello Dear Friend/[insert salutation of choice] emails in my spam folder the other day.

Do they think we have forgotten the Nigerian Prince scams?
