I am soon to visit and possibly buy an R-Tech 161 ac/dc Tig. Both the seller and I have never Tigged (Is that a word).
The unit is out of warranty so it’s a bit of a risk, but that will be reflected in my offer.
He has a full set up, gas, filler rods etc. I am prepared to have a go with some scrap mild or stainless. I have had lots of training via YouTube, but would be grateful for any advice on what to look out for.
My intention was to just try and run some lines without filler, just to make sure it strikes an arc. If I set it to ac can still run a line on steel or should I get hold of some ali?
Is the above good or bad idea?
Anything that I should just walk away from?
