Temporary 1.2sq m electrolysis bath

A friend has in mind that I'm doing something to his dive compressor belt guard (which would have fitted in the more usual 205l drum) but I'm going to try getting a defender door frame hot dipped and I don't trust the local plant to leave it in the acid long enough to clean the inside of the box section.

I'm hoping that caustic electrolyte will strip the paint but I don't hold out hope.

The plan is to do the defender fuel tank, the 101 fuel tank, and then get back the 1.2sq mtrs asap.

Psu is just 8 amp, but I never see anything like that with a clamp meter.

I've got a 20a 48v somewhere... I wonder what that would do?

i find more voltage works faster, has a bigger difference than more amps

I used an old bath when I wanted to clean up my front subframe - fibre-glassed over the drain hole. I only have a battery charger so I seem to recall it took a while.

I've done long stuff like landrover numbers etc in a 205l drum before, you just have to turn them.

I did a filing cabinet in the same way.

But the wide stuff is too wide for the drum.

I've used a sheet of DPM over a frame of 1x6" timber, with pegs driven in the ground to hold it together before, that was a Bedford van back door... Had to stop the kids splashing in it, or they'd have come out stained and wrinkled.
