Tell me about Indian food please (@Parm perhaps) ?

Two of the best i have been to Jivan's Balti house next door to the Slade rooms in Wolverhampton cracking little place.
Urban Tandoori in Small Street Bristol, rather more upmarket but superb.
The test of an indian restaurant is if it doesnt give me terrible indegestion at 3:00am, usually when its swimming in ghee!

After a high BP scare the GP asked me about my diet. I was eating takeaway curry maybe 4 or 5 times a week. At lunch at work then on a Friday night. I had a chat with manager at the Friday night place and from then on just asked for "less oil".

Most places will adapt dishes if you request them to be made Vegan. Obviously this doesn't work for everything, but a lot of things can be made suitable. Our old local restaurant added a Vegan section to the menu as they were getting quite a few requests, which made life easier.

i Eat out a lot (always staying away with work)

most places are quite good, catering for vegetarian, vegan and gluten intolerant

Its quite good fun taking the team out for dinner, we done any choice of cuisine we want, just takes a bit of time to set it all up

Not Many know this.

Most "Indian" restaurants are in fact Bangladeshi, their fish dishes are excellent but their cuisine is most definitely not Indian or Punjabi as it should be correctly described

And there is no such thing as bhuna.......

I cant remember where they came from. I do remember preferring one chef over another. He opened another restaurant leaving the one I used to his cousin, sadly went down hill after that. Not had a decent one for a longtime, though a new one is about to open in an old bank. We'll see...

Any idea what it was then if not a 'Bhuna' ? No wonder Ive never been served the same dish. The OG was like a Jalfrazi without peppers

Our out to lunch bunch Indian restaurant has a waiter that listens and makes suggestions,we explain the wants/don’t wants and they never disappoint. My advice would be to go in and talk to them.

The Indian we shared was really nice and didn't hurt my gallbladder. Chicken tandoori I think with the sauce separate which I avoided. Basically chicken and rice. Not too spicy either

Mate's daughter is studying in a college in Amritsar - Punjab province. All the food there is vegetarian as standard.

Ahh. This is a very interesting observation indeed

The cook / chef has a huge impact on the flavor and taste

I can visit family, we are all Punjabi. they will all make the same or similar things and they can taste very different

I often make the same thing a few times in a row, but it always tastes different, mostly dependent upon my mood and how much of a Keith Floyd I'm doing........

When you’ve spent 3 months in India like I did any sort of western extravaganza is most welcome, even when they didn’t have any of the usual offerings

Off topic but the regional McD's versions are worth a try.

I recall the Kiwi Burger eaten at Dunedin McDonald's. From memory it was a lamb (?) burger, thick slice of the biggest beetroot ever, a fried egg then topped with watercress.
