I do quite a bit of fabrication and up to now 95% has been using box up to 100x50 which I cut with a coldsaw, a fantastic tool with high accuracy and cut quality. Anything larger and usually mark up and cut with thin discs. I’m going to be wanting to cut a growing amount of larger sections/UBs so a bandsaw would seem sensible way to go, secondhand. I have never used one so what type should I be looking for, be good to have one that stops when cut is made, is this classed as semi auto? If I want to cut multiple sections say a pack of 12 of 50x50 box, typically these would be in the range of 700-1000mm, is this doable with a decent, accurate result. There seems to be saws up to 250mm cutting capacity that are not particularly big in size, over that and they seem to jump up in size to be a pretty substantial unit.
If I get a decent used one will it take the place of my coldsaw, which is quick but only cuts one section at a time? TIA
