The picture is meant to illustrate the general type of telescopic ladder I was talking about, not specific brand.
When you say little giant I think of the extending/folding ladders they are best known for, which are a completely different kettle of fish and I agree very sturdy.

But I did have some little giant telescopic ones, think I still have the Lyte ones, buried in a shed
little giant/ wacu ladders are great , not cheap , but very few great things are.

we have telescopic ladders for inspection at work... they're OK, but they're last resort.

I use one for going up and down into my loft, never had it collapse, you can’t push the buttons in when it is loaded anyway. Its possible to crush your fingers, when collapsing if after use, if you really try.......
It sure has its fair share of warnings on, not that I’ve actually read any.

Very handy things for occasional use and can easily be chucked in the car.
All types of ladders have their place. I have those extendable ones, 14 rung triple section zargees and a triple folding thing. I'd miss any one of them.
As said before dirt will upset the mechanism. But I imagine if you popped the end caps of and excercised them whilst running a hose through it would sort itself out.
Having failed to lock one side before they don't collapse. The twist causes them to bind up.

there ok but you dont want to be humping them around all day long 2 heavy and clumsy . i use the werner Fiberglas stepladders

The Werner fiberglass step ladders are nice, and of course, especially for doing electrical work; but I find that if I just need a step ladder I'll only use the main section of the Little Giant, which isn't very heavy. The great thing about their ladder's system, is that the two extensions can also be connected together along with the auxiliary step as a brace to make a second step ladder, which is also useful with a plank at times.
