Teflon liner problems

A couple of weeks ago a new(ish) supplier advised me to fit Teflon liner (red) to my cosmo gas/gasless 200. I got about a days welding out of it and then things started to go pear shaped. Wire jams, birds nests and sputtering all the time.
After hours of trying to keep working I stripped the torch down and found the steel torch liner was packed with tiny strips of Teflon and these were jamming the wire. I never had this problem with the PTFE liners.
After replacing the Teflon liner with another I bought at the same time I now find the wire(0.6m in a 1mm liner) won't feed at all and has punched through the liner side wall about half way up.
Has anyone else had similar problems? I am seriously considering fitting a couple of metres of cycle brake jacket as a liner.

If you are using steel wire on a teflon liner it will wear it fast. If you rollers are knurled, it will turn the wire into one long file and destroy the liner.

Unless you are doing aluminum, stick with a steel liner.

Like has already been said i'd only use teflon with ally. I'd go slap the supplier repeatedly round the head until he gives you a refund and a free steel liner for causing you grief.

Teflon liners are meant for ally. And as said the knurled wheels will serrate the wire and wear the liner away.

Thanks R5. A 2.2 metre length of curtain wire from Wilkinsons @ £1.00 for the length kept me going while the welding stores were closed. In fact, as my machine has never worked so well I will probably use it going forward. So thanks again.

Update. Have used above curtain wire for around 40 hours welding time now. Just checked it for wear while changing 5Kg reels - looks like new.

I fitted a Teflon liner in my ancient Snapon 130 Mig- it lasted 1 roll of wire, the end of the next roll poked a hole in it :-(
