From where the tee is going the pipe goes into the house at an angle up wards and will be about 6 " below ground level where it goes thru an old clay pipe up wards into the house . Bodged renovation by the previous owner
the existing block paving pictured by the door is too high and I'm in the process of lowering that so the water pipe entering the house is now closer to the surface .I have lagged that bit and it didn't freeze during minus 6 frosts so it will have to do
Besides the walls are 18" thick stone so not easy to drill for sure ' and I'd have to rip out the kitchen units to access wher the pipe enters the kitchen to drill from that side .

Have smoothed small scuffs out with a sharp blade, which worked. Something very bad, you could put in inserts, like you'd use if converting to imperial pipe. If you can find a good size match
