hi all im new here but hoping someone can help me i have a tecna 3480 single phase spot welder but as soon as i try weld im tripping my breaker on my board has anyone had this issue or can i change the machine to 3 phase ??
Is it the MCB (the over-current protection) that it trips or the RCD (leakage to earth) breaker?
If it's the former then it's likely a diode / rectifier that has gone short circuit. If it's the latter than something is causing current to flow to earth, presumably a trailing wire or bad connection, and hopefully a visual inspection would identify the culprit.
That said, I just did a quick google of the Tecna and it's a meaty beast. The three phase version has a 25A fusing requirement so it's worth checking what your circuit breaker is rated at.
I can't see a rating for a single phase version but I'd be thinking you would need a C16 MCB at the minimum - what rating is your breaker?
