It'd probably be easier for him to just put a nut on the rod rather than use a spacer dedicated. That way he can tweak the height if needs be and then clamp it tightly in position with the nut, (same method as used for clamping gib screws/bolts once the adjustments are done), or slip a bit of tube over it for extra strength once he finds his perfect height, and then clamp it all down tight with the nut.

It may be that the movement requires a chamfer too, in fact even a tapering washer under the bolthead, in case the hexagon restricts movement.

If I'm not mistaken that it a Peugeot BE gearbox as fitted to a 205 and you're fitting a rose jointed gear linkage to remove all the slop that is inherent in that setup. I have several 205's and I have made up my own rose jointed linkages and I have came across the same problem as you.
My solution was to chop off the ball, leaving the taper. Get a 10.9 grade m6 bolt with an untreaded portion deep enough to sit inside the rose joint. Grind the coating off the head of the bolt & weld it onto the end of the gearbox selector arm. That's the way I did mine & it has done several rallies since without mishap.
I noticed that you are using M6 rose joints. I would be concerned that they are not strong enough. I used M8 joints on my setup and considered M10 until I saw the price! Is this one of those ebay kits you're fitting?

Hello..yes its a be4 box..i have a satchell engineering gear shift/linkage all ready..great bit of kit....the rose joints are m8 so should be ok....yes its almost the same idear....i will be stripping my car to bear shell and planning to do a lot of work mainly for hill climb...also fitting a full dog engagement and a serious diff with some sharp ramp angles.....

A sach shift! A serious investment but probably the best out there. You will not believe the difference a rose joint linkage makes to gear selection - it nearly makes it feel you have a dog box fitted! You probably know this but you need to uprate your engine mounts as well when you fit rose jointed linkages to avoid selection problems.

Sounds like you're building a serious weapon. You'll need PAS with a diff like that - I suggest a phase 1 xsara vts rack (2.2 turns) or phase 2 (2.5 turns) mated to the electric pump from a saxo vtr.

What engine are you fitting?

Hi..yes the satchell shifter is awesome...i am using the satchell wide track front end and there new rear end they do...as well as there engine mounts..they make some nice stuff..i was thinking of using a quaife quick rack..manual...as you tend to loose feed back with power steering..but not sure on that on yet..the motor is/will be a 1800 turbo..dry dump..with steel crank and all the usual forged internals...with a few of my own designs I am planning.....
