I've remapped a few with Nanocom 1 and MSV2.Not sure if I've got a map kicking about for a later one, been I while since I was doing it.
It does make a really nice difference. Don't get sucked with all the pub numbers it's more about driveability. What you will find is it's likely to snap an exhaust manifold stud more so if you labor like sitting in 5th with a heavy load on at lower speeds. Easily fixable though. Probably looking at around 160-65 BHP for a stage 1 but it makes a big difference at the bottom end. There is absolutely no smoke on ours. Ours is an early engine running a flashable ECU.
To go any higher than that then you will be looking boost box and bigger intercooler.
Alive tuning are probably the best if you a proper tailored tune instead of a standard map. They started out doing TD5s. A few years back one of the shows ran an oval with time trials and they set the fastest time in their TD5 Disco(may have even been an auto) pretty impressive given there were tuned V8s there.
it can be quicker but you can’t beat the sound of a v8 petrol engine
