tapping drill

I'm looking for a reverse tapping drill.
the one I'm looking for is the one that is attach to your hand drill.
I've used one at my old job about 12 years ago.
we had 2 types.
1. attach to hand drill
2, hand drill type.
its the one that you tap in and the pull out to reverse.
the only ones I can find is the ones that is tappered to fit your bench drill.
any pointers? ta

You can use a tapmatic, and buy a straight shank arbor for it, good tools but not cheap.

I know the sort of thing you mean, don't think many make electric versions, dewalt do iirc.
Its not an adaptor, but a dedicated machine....

Air ones are quite popular, similar tools for installing nutserts....

Are you looking for an attachment, or dedicated tool?

They're tapping heads, I've used them before. Great bit of kit. But... They're expensive

search ebay for tapping head. they seem to be mostly mt2 for drill presses/milling machines though.

I use a cordless drill and use the reverse to backout the tap.

Also you should really use machine taps as opposed to hand taps. using the cordless means you can stop and reverse to clear/chip the swarf more in the fashion of a hand tap.

I think they are made by LAL or Herbert. I had one which had been used a in a big old hand held drill.

thanks think I'll just do it by hand..
