Want to get some collets for powered tapping with a floating holder, seems there are many different types and generally all expensive including chinese imports. Anyone used them?
There are ISO, DIN and JIS standards covering the shank diameter and square for each metric tap, each slightly different not sure which mine are, will measure later. Cant see any consistency or pattern in the sizing.. just that arsholes like to be different!?
Most basic seems to be ERG32 collets. Like an er32 collet but with a square at the back, they are about fiver each but none of the imports have prime delivery.
GT12 or GT24 types. There are plan versions that just have a bore and the square, or versions with an adjustable torque clutch. About £20 each.
Theres several out of stock sets that appear no longer obtainable.

The clutch type might be nice to have, but it would make sense to me if there was a single, easily adjustable clutch in the holder, not each collet.
Anyway I have spent too long searching. I may end up boring out some 20mm or 30mm rounds to fit each tap and permenently supergluing them in, to be used with a floating er32 or er40 chuck.
