Tap and die organisation

Im finally got to sorting out my taps and dies. Currently its a big jumbled up mess.

Looking for low budget ideas to make it easy to find what i need (it will stop my buying the same size over and over again!)

Ive got lots of shallow draws, which idealy id use. Its just coming up with a system that doesnt involve squinting at each one untill i find what i need.

I bag up my taps and dies in their size, along with the correct tapping drill. So when I pick up an m12 bag, it’s got all three taps (and a small assortment of machine taps, extra long taps etc) plus a 10.2mm drill and a die. No rummaging around for bits! You don’t need loads of drawers, just one for metric, one for whit, one for fine, one for unified, one for pipe threads etc etc.

I have mine in big flat organiser boxes with compartments.

So many different sizes and forms that they mostly get lumped in the same rummage box, but in their own little cocoons.
They are in the same rummage box though , so that narrows the hunting procedure down a bit......

my taps and regular size dies are on a flat 3/4" board in a dedicated drawer....
I just drill a hole and stand the taps up....also in the same row is the correct size tapping drill.....bit of a fafh drilling all diff size hole tho....
then the drawer is split front to back with Whit, Bsf..Unf, Unc n metric ....the dies are located on pins next to the same size tap.....
Big stuff thats 14mm n over plus all of the above are in tupper ware type boxes in the next drawer above....the Bsp stuff is all lumped together in a T/w box....
This way I can always find what I want and also see if there's anything missing...

Should have said that the above drawer is in my double wide tooling cupboard near the lathe and mill.....
So everything is in one place n close to hand...
This has saved me hours walking about..more time to make swarf....
