anybody had dealings with returns ? got brother new car battery two year ago, Varta with 4 year warranty , two years in its dead , charging rate with engine running is good . Whats the odds on warranty being honoured ?

I fitted 2 leisure batteries to my boat from Tayna that had a 2 year guarantee, I sold the boat and 21 months later heard that they had both failed at sea on their first real sail. They went into a local marine services place to be told they were both at 3 volts and wouldn't charge! The engineers fitted 2 new batteries.
I suggested they were still just under warrantee so they contacted Tayna who would only deal through me.
We got a report from the marine engineers condemning the batteries and delivered them back to Tayna in north Wales, they kept them a week testing them and said they were okay and holding a charge.
The new owner collected them from back from Tayna but I don't know what happened after that.

I found Tayna were not trying to get out of replacing the batteries if they were indeed faulty and I think the marine engineers just took the easy way out and dug themselves into a corner then were asked to provide a report.
In this case we were lucky that the boat went to Conway marina which was very near Tanya's base but otherwise delivery costs and packing requirements make it difficult.

From experience buy local . I had £1500 of cells prematurely fail on my solar set up . No help

I've always found Tanya good.

I returned a battery myself, they tested it, then replaced and had replacement delivered, it took a week in all as I recall and deposit returned, no fuss.

You don't need a receipt as such, proof of purchase will also do.

I did return a Halfords one though, took it in and they simply got me a new one, no testing, no quibbling.
Trade card price was about the same as Tayna's.
Moan about Halfords all you like but when it comes to something like a battery, for anyone with a trade card it's a no-brainer.

These days you really do need a system in place so you can backtrack and find receipts for duff goods, a friend keeps a folder with photocopies of all major purchases in date order for this very reason.

That mirrors my experience in dealing with Halfords, though their prices have increased significantly even with a trade card

brother keeps everything so will be suprised if he can t find it , note most reciepts fade to vanish after 8 months though !

your credit card bill/bank statement. but if you ordered it online, it will be in your purchase history. and its tayna, not tanya.

The last one which was a few weeks back they didn't want returning, wouldn't replace it just refund it! Initially it was difficult getting a response from them though, Not sure if they have been bought out as I found various different conflicting contact information

They are still one of the cheapest, quite a bit better than halfords with a trade card, but after a potential duff battery that they wanted sending back I have never bought another one of them since, halfords simply swapped my last duffer no questions asked.
Seems to be a bit out there saying the same about tayna as I had trying to return my battery, what I learnt was Exide are carp and tayna not worth the hassle of the savings over other suppliers.

Just bought a stop start one for the wifes car, got a Yuasa YBX9019 for 180 from one of our parts suppliers, also 180 off ebay, which is cheaper than the same from Tayna.
