Set your iso level higher, the same as using a faster film on a conventional film camera. The higher the iso the less light is needed to take the picture. You will lose some quality in the picture though.

I forgot about setting ISO
Ive just been in the garage to do some demo pics
here are a couple of pics using the Fujifilm camera
again ive not zoomed in on pics all i have done is turned the macro on and the shrunk the pics to 35% of original size for the Forum
and here is a pic of the set up
Im using a bit of paper to help diffuse the harsh light but do remember not to leave in front of light to long as it might set fire due to heat from light

as prev mentioned increase the ISO setting.
try not to take pic with light behind subject have light either from behind or from the side .If you can get light from both sides it will reduce shadows or you can use the fill in flash setting
Are they qualifications or telly progs? Ain't seen either of themNo matter what they show you on CSI or NCIS
Did a bit of web srching, it seems macro funcs have moved on a bit since my old steam-powered cam was made. Top thread btw, cheers

see?? it's a little part i've welded....and it looks like grandads pipe!!!! is that a reason to get a new camera or what???
ps: what do i have to look for in a new camera? pixels?

pixels do help alot but look for facilities like macro and optical zoom forget about digital zoom some of the newer compact cams will also let you shoot short movie clips with sound which is great for you tube vids.I tend to favour the independant camera shops to get a good idea on whats about and shop around.Plus i like the cams that will take AA batteries and not the other expensive ones.Ive had a couple of fuji film ones and cant complane at them.Also when I hok them to pc via usb it see it like a portable drive so its easy to get the pics off just drag and drop

go to one of the independant camera shops they usually let you have a play
with them ( the cameras i mean
)

true but you can only correct so many things with a picture editor and an out of focus pics is not one of them. No matter what they show you on CSI or NCIS
i hate that when they take an out of focus pic and suddenly sharpen it as if by magic. Grrrrr!

Hi,
have a look at the dreaded Ebay...
there are a couple of guys selling Fuji and Canon (which from the specs seem to use the same internals) direct from the manufacturers, refurbished, with a full 12 month manufacturers warranty.
I've just bought a canon Sx100 for myself for just over £100, offered my wife a Fuji something or other with a higher spec for £129 but she preferred a Canon A590 'super compact' that cost £80. All eight or ten meg cameras with decent optical zooms (the Fuji has an incredible 18x, plus another 5.7 digital).
There are plenty of other models around the £40 - £80 area.
