Hi
I am still practising on scrap and am getting better at lap welds and butt welds on the flat-in my world anyway !!
I am really struggling with T welds and welding vertically.
Hopefully, here are my efforts at T welds.

I also attach copies of my vertical attempts,The vertical attempts are the really dodgy welds in the middle

I hope someone can give me some pointers.I did not change the settings from horizontal welding except that I increased the gas to 15 lps.
Finally I think it is a fact of life that I am going to blow holes and I have been trying to learn how to repair these.I have been closing these by adding weld to the sides of the holes until they are filled up and then quickly flashing over the whole thing with the power turned up one setting to "melt the whole job together".
I am sure that there are better methods
Thanks in anticipation of your help

OK first you shouldn't need to up the gas. If you are getting good cover flat (down hand) it should be OK for all positions. Welding vertical, up to 5mm weld vertical down, 5mm and over weld vertical up, try turning the power down quite low for vertical up you should still get good penetration. I you are blowing holes down hand try less power or smaller wire (don't know what you are using) or a faster travel speed (practice, and experiment). Some of your welds look OK I'm guessing they were down hand. If it's only vertical you are blowing holes, try down, looks like the material is quite thin (to thin for up) if you want to practice vertical up you really need some thicker steel. The runs on the T's (fillet welds) look very heavy for the thickness you are welding, try with out any weave. Aim the wire into the corner with the torch about 45 degrees and pointing slightly in the direction you will be travelling. If you have a good power setting for a butt weld you may need to up it slightly for the fillet. Hope this helps a little, keep practising it looks like you're almost there.
