T nuts for a Clarke Pillar drill ?

Got myself a Clarke CDP451F pillar drill and after faffing to get T nuts for it at first going for M10 and them being to small, so got another set but M12, now they wont even go into the slot.

Only way the M12 will is if i grind out the front of the table as in pic.

Rather not grind it out but if needs must. Just wondering what other T nuts folk use so its got me a little confused.

I think you need the rounds ones with flats on opposing sides?

Well i never. didnt know there was round T bolts. mite aswell use a bolt then ? or does that not work for some reason i cant see.

I make my own but I have a milling machine. I suppose you could grind flats on so it would fit.

or can you shorten the M12 T nuts or are they hardened.

Attack the ones you have with a thin disc and angry grinder to fit sideways in the slot.

They usually are hardened but the cheaper ones tend to be brittle that is why I make my own.

just having me pay day take out and ill go and see if i can grind them to fit. only cheapo ones anyway.

Just as an example, here is one I broke recently. I am not heavy handed but it shattered none the less!

I was too mean to buy some , so made mine out of 5mm plate and studding welded on , been ok for five years

Quality on that casting is shocking..you could take a few mm off each end of those nuts with a disc and they should fit in,still be strong enough.

Ah sorry chaps,

I sorted them in the end, i just chamfered the lower corner on the T nuts. fit fine now.

And @roofman its a Clarke drill that. so i guess expected.
