What has happened to T-cut? It used to be great stuff for restoring car paintwork, removing overspray, buffing up etc. Now I don't find it any better than any other common product thats available.
Yes, I know what you mean. This is only a guess but, if memory serves, it used to be slightly more abrasive. Is it possible that the formula has changed slightly over the years as paint finishes have changed and clear-coat finishes become more common?
Probably way off the mark with that but, in this new litigious society we all live in, I can imagine the manufacturer would not want some **** trying to sue them after he Tcut his new Merc and then discovered a nice new matt finish!!
Yep, I would guess it's more to do with changes in paint technology than the product itself.
With the old cellulose paints the abrasives would work on the colour coat directly and basically fill any scratches with rubbed off colour. With the more modern base coat/clear coat paints the abrasive is only really cutting the clear coat so won't have much in the way of scratch filling ability.
As I said pure guess work ( but seems logical to me at least )
