T-Cut alternative

I think a big question is how are you applying the T-cut? If by hand what do you consider a 'small area'? realistically if youre doing it by hand a small area needs to be less than 6'' x 6'' and you need to be working it till your arm wants to fall off!

Alternatively you want a DA polisher and some decent polish as mentioned above.

This is all assuming it is recoverable though. What colour is the van?

As has been pointed out above, if the graphics have been there a long time there will be pigment fade around them. Therefore the action of the cutting compound should be directed at the faded panel, rather than the protected "good as new" paint under the graphics.

Yes bare metal, primers top coat and clear, only difference was the material, no 2k epoxy. Eather cell or polly, I am not saying it was in your face but get the light right and knowing where it was they were there, proper sign writing was the worst

As a note I have always washed and clayed a vehicle before polishing to reduce the chances of the tell tale swirl marks when rotary polishing.. Farecla G3 and then G10 got rid of the ghosting on my ex AA van did not reappear in the next 10 years of use but others are available. Always used Fexipads foams as I can get them locally, starting with a firm sponge and working up to softer one. Avoid rotary polishing sharp edges as it is easy to go through the paint.

Could it be that the paint has faded due to sunlight however the area under the letters is actually the pre faded colour ?

Interesting. I've always used epoxy as a barrier coat and never seen the problem. celly and thinners can be very reactive to everything I know - but for classics often it's the purist choice
