Syncrowave 275 power consumption

Hi I have a syncrowave 275, circa early 90s. Does anybody know what power it consumes at idle, ie while plugged in but not welding?

The manual just lists specs for power consumption while at full output amps. I assume, judging by the size of the transformer, even just sitting it will draw quite a few amps but does anyone have an accurate figure. I dont have it setup yet so cant measure it myself

It's not so much the current draw at idle that's the concern, it's the inrush current when the machine is first turned on.
Are you running on a 240V supply? If so then a 40A type C or preferably D breaker if you can source one will get it running but only on it's lower settings.

Yes it will be 240v. That would be great if runs off 40amp breaker. I had a fear it would trip 40amp on start up

I'd guess it is just over 2 amps, a lot of that is the fan motor.

It will also matter if it has power factor correction. My Airco is of similar size and was 2.1 amps.

Hi yes its a 275p so I believe it has power factor correction

Ha thanks, I would if I had the balls to plug the machine in but have feeling it will trip half the neighbourhood.
