Symbols on welder

Hi, been going through commisioning my BOC ADR 375 tig, now I can cross reference most of them to the murex manual I downloaded (although it isnt a murex), but Im a little confused to what this setting is on the mode selector switch (the one pointed to)

And this chappy has me scratching my head a little...

Could someone point me in the right direction?

ok guessing here, but TIG mode without an arc, a gas purge mode possibly for when doing pipe work, using the torch to push out gas so you can fill a tube with argon, either that or hammer mode. the other switch looks like a plus and minus sign well sort of, is it for changing the torch polarity, but its the wrong way up. so 2t mode and 4t mode, or push button down TIG starts welding let go it stops and the other mode being push torch button to start then press again to stop

Could you go over what the 2T 4T mode thing means again Darren. Is that remote vs panel starting?

It was mentioned before on the forum but the forum won't search for 2 letter strings (It'll do 3 letter searches so to help me find it next time I'll be able to search two tee and four tea).

not sure which is which but i think 2t, is where you have to press the torch trigger and hold it down all the time you want to weld, all the time you have your finger on the button it welds. 4t mode is where you press the torch trigger to start welding and it will continue to weld until you press the trigger again. Sort click once for on and click again for off. 4t or latching mode is great for doing long runs, but not so clever when doing short runs or tacks.

Ahhh - it's latching - good explanation thanks. That would explain why I don't have that feature on mine. I think my Syncro would have always been sold with a foot pedal so I've got the choice of panel or remote start instead of the 2T 4T thing. Either that or mine is too old to have that feature. Or I haven't spotted it yet. Must admit I didn't spot it on Mt Fluffy's pics either. You must have good eyes.

Most separate wire feed migs have a 2T 4T facility too. Veeery useful, saves your trigger finger from getting worn out.

thanks darren, the odd shape of the shroud compared to the other two positions was what was getting to me on the mode selector.
Latching eh, sounds verrryyy handy. I often used to get mig finger when I was doing a lot of welding in one go...
