They're not a bad choice if its just for hobby use, not sure how it'd hold up in an industrial environment though. The Redline 280/4 has some nice aspects like the solid 4 roll feeder & the digital display.
Its transformer based so it's going to be somewhat more simple than most inverter based MIG's. Got 16 volt steps with the low & high switch.
Quite affordable too, we've sold plenty of the SWP redline 210 turbos to hobbiest's and never had issues with them.
Hi Tom, thanks for the info. It will be used for making barriers, gates, trailers for around the farm and other odd bits, I wont be working on body work or light material like that so I want to buy something with a nice bit of power for welding heavier stuff. I have a budget of roughly 1000 euro, don't want to spend much more. Any other recommended models in the 280/300 Amp bracket for this kind of money?
Could have a look at the Parweld XTM 251/301C, you'll get one of those for around your budget mate. 4 roll drive, better warranty & an infinitely variable wire feed speed.
They're nice little units that have got some real good backup, one of your lads over in Ireland should be able to sort you one out at decent money
