and some dope will probably buy it going by what I see some stuff going for and what folks pay. maybe ive been spoilt by going to all the sales and know what can be had for not a lot of money . ebay gets a lot more attention and people pay a big price

Well worth it. That’s a six inch Swinden’s and the vice stand is easily “worth” £150 on its own.

You could comfortably turn that around for £550.

Worth and what you can get for it are two different things
To me it's worth no more than 50 quid. And keep the stand.
Plenty of decent vice that will serve my needs that won't cost me stupid money.

Money is a abstract human concept, that lathe is a very real and inherently "expensive" item. Think of the amount of energy which has been expended in its production from cradle to grave.

Had you not rescued that item, it would inevitably have been broken down for scrap. I am sure you feel good about saving it and bringing it back to life. Such dedication is to be applauded surely...

Well without getting into the argument about what something may be "worth", I can assure you a six inch Swinden's vice will sell for £400 on its own.
