Swages in small pipes

Copper isn't the best material to use on a car as it fatigues easily.

Why not use double annealed stainless tube, its easily bent.

Like that one.

Might not work, the LPG pipes on cars are copper with a rubber outer bonded to it, the fear being there could be movement due to vibration between the copper & rubber which could chafe the copper.

I don't believe that it'll be an issue. The pipe is supported every 300mm so the movement will be minimal. The rubber protection will be pipe clipped at both ends so even if it did chafe through it'll be contained by the heater hose.

Ali isn't the best option, stainless would have been better but I was concerned about bending it and it's so much more expensive! I'll make the pipes up and offer them up before cutting into the system.

OK made the swages using a combination of my brake pipe flare tool and a hammer!

The brake pipe tool wasn't up to swaging the annealed pipe so I decided to try a bit of directed violence. I found that the brake pipe clamp tool and the little double swage insert thing could be hammered to produce a serviceable swage. A quick tidy up with a file and they are quite usable. Just need to jack the car up now and sort out fitting them in.

I haven't seen this. I have several 5/16 copper pipes on a bike engine
that need replacing, bent and squashed. Where do you get it.
