Surface rust on cills/epoxy primer/stonechip?

Ok I've got some old stone chip which is peeling off , it's got some surface rust ......

Soooo what I plan to do is sandblast the surface rust off (small Lidl sandblaster if it's up too it !? )
Prime with epoxy primer as I believe that's the best stuff and non porous , then stone chip .......

Does that sound okay ?? I have no paint spraying kit , so can u get epoxy in aerosol form or in brushable form ?

Is epoxy single or 2 pack ?? I'm clueless about it

Sounds like a good plan if the Lidl sandblaster is up to it, might be a bit slow though.

Yes you can brush or roller it with a foam gloss roller, just thin it down a little more

2 pack but no isocyanates so much safer than 2K sounds, and brushing / rolling it makes it even less of a concern.

Easier and more efficient to clean it with a flap or poly disc.

A spotblast gun will not do that, you will have to strip it the conventional way. Once clean then epoxy prime. You have two main choices, the Jotun which is quite thick and takes more sanding, or Lechler 29107 for anywhere visible.

Epoxy primers are 2K but do not contain isocyanates. You can spray or brush them, but clearly it will take more elbow grease to flat back from brushing.

Don't forget to degrease with panel wipe before epoxy .

Perfectly good advice. Epoxy primer is waterproof and so you can leave it as is, or overcoat with whatever you like. The epoxy is protecting the metal.

Cheers guys ,have a lechler stockist in town .
Can u paint over shutz , I thought it was bitumen???? I want it too more or less match the texture of the existing coating .

I do need an empty shutz can to apply the waxoyl to the insides anyway

Schutz looks like what is already on there. It will take top coat.

Dont buy a bitumen stonechip, get a rubberised one that can be overprinted.

yeah that will want overpaintable stonechip not bitumen underseal

patches like that are near impossible to blend in due to the thickness , if youre fussy and need it looking sharp then poly disc the whole sill
