Hi guys.
I have a 530 front sprocket for my motorcycle (Yamaha RD250C) and want to use it with 525 chain.
530 sprockets are .343" wide
525 sprockets are .284" wide
difference is approx .06" which is around 1/16"
I naively thought this could be skimmed off in a lathe but have been advised on other forums that won't be do-able (as front sprockets are hardened) and surface grinding may be viable.
I don't know anything about that or who (if anyone) would take on such a small job.
Also, at what cost? £80, £320, £1000
NB. I've been looking for ages for a 525 front sprocket for the bike but can't source one hence the dilema. I have two 525 sprockets for the rear, which isn't available in 530 afaik. Both sizes of chain are available.
