Well earlier I was extolling the virtues of my Brown and Sharpe. It worked perfectly on my first test. Lovely surface finish and very accurate.
Today I decided to true the wheel and grind the mag chuck.
Started fine but then near the end of the cross travel the cut got deeper. The wheel suddenly stalled. Thank goodness for belt drive it just slipped.
At first I thought it was a very high spot so I finished with hand feed. Ran over the chuck several times.
Put it on auto and started cutting heavy again right from the start. I don't think there is spindle downfeed. The handle certainly didn't move.
Can anyone suggest why it cuts deeper on auto feed?
