Sorry, its rectangle section. The o/s dimensions are important as other components fit onto it. The design was originally done in imperial (Canada) and converted to metric (the plans are copyrighted). I would have thought that similar to wood 3" x 2" would be commonly available in metric steel but evidently not!

If the plans were done originally as imperial, buy imperial stock? Its readily available...
