To be fair the 1970's plates were smaller so it was hard to balance four helpings on one plate

I can't fathom why so many on here voluntarily travel to the US with all the bashing I hear.
It must be just a horrid place eh ?
One thing that I find very odd, is people always complaining about high gas prices, yet
you find them leaving the engine run while they go shopping. It's been happening as of late
in my northern town, apparantly 72f is just too much for people, the same that walk around in shorts, tee shirt,
and crocs even in the snow.
We found that Denny's varied quite a bit, from frankly awful to quite good. I believe they are a franchise which would explain it.Last time I was in the States travelling around, I decided to go to a Denny's for breakfast, I ordered Ham and Eggs, what I got was 2 massive gammon steaks, a couple of eggs, Grits ( you can keep them and feed them to livestock) and a stack of pancakes plus syrup, and endless coffee. I didn't have to eat for the rest of the day though.
Been wearing a ten dollar pair of Wranglers today that I bought in a Target in Cincinnati in 2005 ish - they have lasted wellIt’s a decade or so since I was last in one, I quite enjoyed how cheap stuff like jeans and T shirts were. 3 decent quality T shirts for ten bucks, or jeans for $8 a pair, what’s not to like.![]()
I had the opportunity to move to the US 10 years ago...I really wish I had taken it...but it was NYC and that put me off.

Like most of us here mate,me includedI bought a pair of Levi 501's in a Levi shop in Orlando at well under half the UK price. They had every waist size & leg length going up in inches, only time I've ever bought anything off the peg that fitted without alteration!
Still have them but only as a keepsake, my waist is now 4" too big to wear them!![]()
I bought several pairs back there - didn't know when I'd be back . . . a couple of pairs sort of stretched with me . . a couple are like new. I'd have to admit it's only recently they started to fit againI bought a pair of Levi 501's in a Levi shop in Orlando at well under half the UK price. It's just different. I'm known at work for liking the place, wherever I have to go there. Job needs doing in the US, call me . . . Need to go tomorrow, stay three months . . call me . . .I can't fathom why so many on here voluntarily travel to the US with all the bashing I hear.

I think it is ‘fashionable’ to bash the US, usually from people who have never been, same as so many bikers slag off Harleys, though most have never ridden one.I can't fathom why so many on here voluntarily travel to the US with all the bashing I hear.

The ex wife had family in NY, we visited several times. I found it to be just like every other big city: crowded, hot, smelly, boring, traffic, frustrating etcI had the opportunity to move to the US 10 years ago...I really wish I had taken it...but it was NYC and that put me off.
But they are rubbish.same as so many bikers slag off Harleys, though most have never ridden one.
(In general, not on this forum, I mean)

I can’t imagine why people say ‘I love New York’…..

I asked my old employer if they could help get me a green card, when I was working in the Gulf of Mexico, but they said they couldn’t do it. I’d have moved there in a heartbeat.
The medic on my ship told me about her father who was selling his house in Kentucky. 30 acres, a huge farm house, with a big barn converted into a 2 storey metal/wood workshop….. all for $70,000 That was ten years ago, and I’d have snapped his hand off if I could have just got a visa…
On a Florida trip in '95 I was taken aback by just how big the people were.Do the Mericuns really chomp through this much foodCould be they are into big shops/keeping stock with less trips..
