Hiya,
My gas valve in the trigger seems to have decided to stick on permanently. The valve block is a white plastic thing, and I don't think I can get in there. The trigger actuated plunger seems to move in and out easily enough. Is there anything I can do with it to repair it?
I've been looking for a solution, and thus far, I've got 4 options.
- Get a replacement for £20, but it's going to take 6 weeks to be delivered.
- buy a whole replacement torch for £125!!!
- convert to eurotorch with a gas solenoid for about £90
- buy a supermig 180 with a eurotorch - quite expensive! I'm wondering whether the supermig180 would be much of an improvement on mine in terms of the strength of the wire-feed motor and general robustness. Does anyone have any experience? I'm only looking at the possibility of a new welder by going through toolstop.co.uk where I can get it on 12 month finance, as I can't afford to buy one outright!
Has anyone got any thoughts?
Cheers. Tom
