I found cellulose thinners on blue paper roll did the job fine.

I wonder if this might help .
Lightly paint the visible seal with pure turpentine , leave it a few min then use a fine point right angle scriber ... ease a groove into the mastic .
Repaint and this time use a Stanley knife to deepen the groove. repeat till you have fully cut through all the gasket .
I did this with 30 yr old plus 1/4 inch thick double glazed glass units that had misted up .
It worked a lot better than I expected , I used a flat scraper and more pure turpentine & some old nappy strips to clean the surfaces down to bare metal in just minutes.
